Women in the Wild

April 13-15, 2012

Mission: To provide women who participate with a safe and fun environment in which to familiarize themselves with some of the many outdoor recreational opportunities in the Coastal Bend.

Goals:

1. To empower women by teaching them new skills.

2. To encourage networking among women with like interests that will provide a support group in further endeavors.

3. To create a stress free environment for women to enjoy the learning process without the pressure to master any one thing but enabling familiarization in new skills.

About the Event

The event takes place over the weekend with participants choosing four (4) hands-on classes for the weekend. Top-notch instructors and volunteers will assist participants throughout the event. This is a first come first serve basis on both the entry into the event as well as for the classes. We will be limiting registration to the first 100 women ages 21 and older.

The 2012 event will be held at Port Bay Hunting Club at 310 Port Bay Road in Rockport. The Saturday mixer will be held at Poor Man's Country Club at 1009 Hwy 35 North in Rockport.

Cost

Entry Fees are $125/participant for entries received between 2/1-3/5. Entry fee will then be $150 for entries received 3/6-3/31. All entries must be postmarked no later than 3/31/12.

Entry Fee includes participation in four (4) of the listed events, a t-shirt, hat, bag dinner on Saturday night at the mixer, light breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, lunch on Saturday and Sunday and non-alcholic beverages throughout. This is a day camp atmosphere and lodging is NOT included.

Cancelation: In you cancel your registration prior to 4/1 you will receive a full refund. There will be no refunds after 4/1.

Equipment

Sensible shoes are a must, this event is on a ranch not on pavement, and walking will be required. Long pants are a good idea to combat mosquitoes. Please bring a lawn chair, jacket, sunglasses, bug spray, sun screen, etc. Dress comfortably and appropriate to activities.

Schedule

Friday April 13th: Check in 5-9pm at Port Bay Hunting Club. You will pick up your bag, shirt and visor and there will be a campfire social.

Saturday April 14th: Late check in 7-7:45am. All participants on site for an 8am start to include orientation, group photos and more. Day will last until late afternoon (around 3pm) with the mixer being held at Poor Man's in the evening. Lunch time speaker TBD.

Sunday April 15th Day will start at 8am and run until early afternoon with a late lunch. Lunch time speaker TBD

Schedule subject to change by event organizers and inclement weather.

Please be sure to dress for the weather especially if participating in the kayaking. The water may still be cool and the weather may be as well. This event will not be canceled unless the weather is severe and we will shift events as needed to accommodate the weather.
